Breaking the Stigma Behind Mental Health

 Enough Is Enough:

"It could be worse", "It's all in your head", "Don't be so dramatic". You may have heard one or more of these statements from strangers, friends, and even your own family. That's what makes having a mental illness so difficult. You feel like no one cares, or is willing to hear you out and be a shoulder to cry on. We are automatically deemed needy or dramatic, and incapable of getting through stressful and challenging situations. Over the years, mental health awareness has gained more following and popularity with many organizations. Even then, not much progress has been made in the effort to promote this subject. Many of us still face the struggle of opening up to anyone, in fear that we will be judged and criticized for how we feel. It may have to do with the fact that mental health is something you can't see. People are more likely to display empathy and understanding towards those with physical ailments. So, the question becomes, "How do we change the way we perceive these impressions?" The answer is simple, start small and work our way up. This could be as simple as advocating, by teaching a group of people about mental health and its challenges. By implementing outreach groups, we can inform and spread positive thinking about mental health and its disorders. In today's age, we have a wide variety of platforms that allow us to connect to thousands of people around the world. TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat… you name it. By working together, we can create a vast network that allows us to inform people around the world! We can be the key to building people up, instead of breaking them down. Starting today, we end the judgment and begin accepting those who are fighting in silence.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN THIS FIGHT!
